Dine and Dish: Main Street Burgers in northwest Fresno

ABC30 – October 15, 2025

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) — Main Street Burgers in the Marketplace at El Paseo at Herndon and Highway 99 in northwest Fresno set out to build a better burger experience – one focused on hospitality.

“We believe we’re the main burger spot on the street,” says owner Waleed “Wally” Abdul.

Wally Abdul’s sons, Khalid and Omar, normally run the place, but both were on vacation on this day.

He says his boys fought to have a chopped cheese on the menu.

Wally didn’t know how popular the chopped cheese would become.

“It’s two patties with grilled onions, jalapenos and cheese,” he said.

The smashburgers they make here aren’t as thin as others you may have tried.

“You want to give that crisp to the patties from the corners, but you want to keep that juicy patty to taste the meat,” Wally said.

“The Main” is the biggest seller. It’s two patties, lettuce, cheese and grilled onions.

It’s all held together with bread specially ordered from Martin’s Buns.

As for the cool decor, Wally’s sons designed some posters on the wall.

“They look classy, and it tells who we are,” Wally said.

The Western Burger features bacon and onion rings.

“The meat is always fresh,” Wally said. “Never frozen.”

The burgers are nicely paired with old-fashioned milkshakes, with flavors like pistachio and Biscoff.

The shakes are made with classic Thrifty ice cream.

Cajun fries go with that shake.
